Santic was a highly innovative label and between the years 1973 to 1975 built a fantastic but select catalogue.
One of Jamaica's most creative and musical record producers his name has remained relatively unsung outside of students of the music for in a genre dominated by excess, Leonard Chin's musical reputation rests on two very compact and concentrated bodies of work. They are both very different and the first, showcased on the first Pressure Sounds release “An Even Harder Shade Of Black” CD/LP PS 001 and now continued with this release, dates from between 1973 and 1975 when Leonard was at the centre of Kingston1s musical maelstrom.
Horace Andy, I,Roy, Jah Lloyd, Freddie McKay and Augustus Pablo. They all have excellent tracks included here. Tubby's features on a couple of mix's. This is a lean classy compilation of a young producer when he was totally at one with artists musicians and his own unique ability. |
